A Guest-Geared Guide to Opal’s Sweetest Hotel Suites

We aren’t speaking in hyperbole when we say these rooms are our biggest and boldest. And we’re presenting them to you based on what type of grand retreat YOU’RE looking to book.

There comes a time when great is no longer good enough. Some occasions call for grand. That’s why Opal boasts a robust list of hotels and resorts with room options that are the crème de la crème of accommodations. Yes, we’re talking suites – lavish, extravagant, and luxurious suites. But not all suites are made equal; rather, many boast unique features favorable for a specific type of guest group and what they want to do, whether that’s entertain, reconnect, truly retreat, or even get a little work done. So with that in mind, we got out our tape measures, scoured our collection, and created this custom list of suites to serve your unique guest needs.

Opal Sands Resort [Clearwater Beach, FL]

Great for Guests…Who Want Multiple, Lavish Spaces to Entertain

1. Opal-Sands

While all of Opal Sands Resort’s suites boast living rooms and balconies with amazing views of the Gulf, when it comes to getting the most (and varied) space for entertaining, there’s no suite quite like the Presidential Suite. That’s because this particular 1,300-square-foot suite is based at the corner of the hotel, meaning its balcony wraps around it to offer an additional (additional!) 1,000 square feet of outdoor space almost as large as the suite itself. Not only is the patio furnished with lounge furniture and a hot tub, but a semi-covered dining table with seating for up to six. Inside, you’ll find a full kitchen with all the equipment for creating a crowd-pleasing spread, a wet bar for those who want to mix their own cocktails, and, finally, another six-person dining table. Throw in the modern coastal-inspired décor – with touches like coral sculptures, bubble chandeliers, and wall art that makes you feel like you’re in the middle of an aquarium – and you’ve got the makings of one memorable evening spent entertaining your closest friends.

The Laureate Key West [Key West, FL]

Great for Guests…Who Want to Work in Solace, But Sneak In Some Key West Flavor

2.-The-Laureate

Overlooking the Atlantic on the eastern side of the island, this all-suite resort is home to 64 accommodations that encourage guests to retreat as Key West’s iconic laureates of the mid-century did: tucked away with all the essentials and ready to focus on work. In fact, guests can even have their kitchens – home to a full-sized fridge, dishwasher, two-burner cooktop, microwave, toaster, and Keurig coffee maker – fully stocked with their preferred groceries ahead of their arrival. But since it’s not good for a working mind to stay totally cooped up the entire time, the bonus of these suites is its location within easy striking distance of the best of Key West’s attractions right outside your door.

The Sagamore Resort [Lake George, NY]

Great for Guests…Who Want a Stand-Alone Suite to Truly Retreat Deep in the Adirondacks

3.-The-Sagamore

While you’ll find suites in the separate buildings of The Lodges and The Hermitage, for a suite experience that is separate from all, book the historic Lake George hotel’s brand-new First House, accommodating up to 11 of your closest friends and family. Formerly the private home of the resort’s innkeeper during the turn-of-the-twentieth-century, the lakehouse-like accommodation is now a completely modern, two-level home away from home, offering a full kitchen and dining room, two master bedrooms, kid’s room with bunk beds, queen bedroom, and expansive front porch and patio. It even has its own laundry room, ideal for those visitors looking to get down and dirty in the wilds of the Adirondacks during an extended stay.

Edgewater Beach Hotel [Naples, FL]

Great for Guests…with Big Families Who Want the Space to Match & Private Beach by Their Side

4.-The-Edgewater-Beach-Hotel

You get the intimacy of a boutique inn, but all the benefits of a world-class beachfront resort within this Naples-based property. But the truly impressive part? All accommodations are full suites, meaning, no matter what room you book, space to spread out – thanks to kitchens and living rooms – isn’t hard to come by. Still, if looking for the supreme in spaciousness, book the hotel’s premium suite. Encompassing a whopping 2,000 square feet, it offers a kitchen, dining room, two living room areas, two bathrooms, two bedrooms, and a stairwell located just outside that leads right down to the private stretch of beach.

Hutchinson Shores Resort & Spa [Hutchinson Island, Florida]

Great for Guests…Who Love a Good Oceanfront Balcony

5.-Hutchinson-Shores-Resort

While all the suites at this 178-room beach property – the first new beach resort to be built on Hutchinson Island in nearly 20 years when it opened in spring of 2017 – come with private balconies, there’s nothing like the accommodations known as the “Oceanfront Suites.” That’s because their large wrap-around balconies come fully furnished with a table and chairs and the most epic and unobstructed view of the Atlantic.

Treasure Island Beach Resort [Treasure Island, FL]

Great for Guests…Who Are Looking to Reconnect in Living Room Luxury

6.-Treasure-Island-Beach-Resort

Coastal design, a soothing sea-inspired color palette, and views of the ocean at every turn are just the start of the 77 suites that make up this Treasure Island beach resort. In fact, one of their signature amenities are the large and inviting living rooms, boasting a flat-screen television, full-sleeper sofa with a chaise lounge, and an armchair. That means, when you’re done with the beach (located just steps away) for the day, conversation comes easily in this cozy space, especially when fueled by a few glasses of wine from the welcome bottle that came presented in your room upon arrival.

Lake Placid Lodge [Lake Placid, NY]

Great for Guests…Who Want an Entire Top-Floor of Rustic Adirondack Elegance to Themselves

7.-Lake-Placid-Lodge

Designed to reflect the Great Camps of the Gilded Age with hand-hewn wooden beams and magnificent stonework, Lake Placid Lodge’s Main Lodge is home to five exceptional accommodations – two of which are suites: the Treetop Suite and the Whiteface, both boasting lofted ceilings, stack-stoned fireplaces, deep soaking tubs, and elevated king-sized beds wrapped in vines and saplings. Even better, since both suites encompass the top floor of the building, guests can book both to essentially create a luxurious two-bedroom apartment – one fit for former Great Camp owner, Rockefeller himself.

The Resort at Longboat Key Club [Longboat Key, FL]

Great for Guests…Who Like Their Space to Come with Style Inspired by the Surroundings

8.-The-Resort-at-Longboat-Key

As the only resort in Sarasota with AAA four-diamond status and scores of amenities (two golf courses, five restaurants, 20 Har-Tru tennis courts, to name a few), you can bet that the suites will be nothing to scoff at. But in addition to spaciousness of up to 1,750 square feet, all suites were part of a recent top-to-bottom renovation of the resort (scheduled to be fully completed by December 2020). And what a renovation it was: With a design motif of nautical (a tip of the hat to the resort’s own full-service, 291-slip marina, naturally), the suites feature sleek white marble dinettes and bathrooms, polished wood in all tones and hues, luxury navy blue carpets, and evoke the feeling of being in the belly of a luxury yacht.

Lido Beach Resort [Sarasota, FL]

Great for Guests…Who Like to do a Little Light Cooking with the Bonus of a Gulf View

9.-Lido-Beach-Resort

Kitchen amenities – including a full-size fridge, dishwater, microwave, stovetop, and four-chair dinette – come in all the junior and full suites in this 222-room Sarasota hotel. So if you’ve already exhausted the menu at the resort’s Drift Kitchen + Bar, you’re able to whip up a quick something to enjoy on your private balcony that offers either a view of the Gulf of Mexico or Sarasota’s stunning skyline.
