Real Lake George Wedding: Belinda & George

A longtime love of the region made The Sagamore Resort the ideal location for this playful couple’s Lake George wedding.

Their Story

While Belinda and George first met in a master’s degree program at Colombia University, it wasn’t until after they graduated that they started dating. Eight months later, after hiking along the Tongue Mountain Range that overlooks Lake George, George popped “the question” – and champagne flowed soon thereafter.

The Venue

George spent childhood summers in Bolton Landing, and the couple purchased a home there, as well. With the added bonus of their proposal location and love of Lake George, The Sagamore Resort was the obvious setting for their nautical, Great Gatsby–inspired reception. “We knew right away that we would get married here,” says Belinda.

George grew up spending a lot of time in Bolton Landing as a child and always admired the beauty of The Sagamore Resort perched on the edge of the water. Having a house in Bolton Landing and spending a lot of time there as a couple, they knew this was the ideal location – with its option of a lakefront tented terrace or panoramic views. The resort also rents out its 72-foot replica nineteenth-century touring vessel, The Morgan.

Bride’s Take

“Planning a wedding in just four months doesn’t allow time to deliberate over every little detail. The Sagamore took care of all the catering details and helped me make quick, easy decisions at every turn.”
