Street Smart: Main Street in Jupiter’s Abacoa
Abacoa is a downtown district in Jupiter with a Main Street that has emerged as a go-to spot for a fun day with the family or a date night.
Abacoa is a relatively new community, having been constructed in the late 1990s, but one that belies the natural, comfortable Florida charm the area has. Whether your family is looking for a fun day built around a visit to the ballpark or you and your partner are seeking the perfect spot for that romantic dinner, you’ll find what you’re looking for on Main Street.
Roger Dean Stadium [4751 Main Street]
Jupiter is home to four minor league baseball teams, so chances are at least one of them will be playing during your upcoming visit at Roger Dean Stadium. An Abacoa staple since 1998, the stadium houses the Jupiter Hammerheads and Palm Beach Cardinals (both Class A teams), and the Gulf Coast Marlins and Gulf Coast Cardinals (both rookie-level teams.) If you happen to be there during spring training, you’ll catch the Marlins and Cardinals getting ready for the coming MLB season. Regardless, with so many minor league teams passing through, Roger Dean Stadium is a nice spot to catch a glimpse of the next generation of baseball stars.
Copacabana [1209 Main Street #101]
Founded by a married couple with a multicultural background – he grew up in Cuba, she traveled the world for work – Copacabana fuses authentic Cuban and Caribbean fare. The menu is extensive, with an abundance of choices available for both lunch and dinner. A few of the highlights: fajitas de pollo estilo Cubana (Cuban-style marinated chicken tenders, seasoned and grilled with onions and peppers), enchilada de Camarones (large shrimp simmered in a special wine Creole sauce), and, of course, the classic Cuban (ham, pork, swiss cheese, steamed and hot-pressed on Cuban bread.)
Crux Coffee Roasters [1155 Main Street #118]
Crux Coffee is one of the best spots in Jupiter to sit and relax with a cup of java. Coffees and espressos are individually and expertly prepared, and you’ll have your choice from about 10 single-origin coffees from around the globe that are roasted on-site. Visitors are reminded of the international vibe thanks to the world map on the wall (titled “Find Your Origin”) and can also buy bags to brew on their own at home.
DAS Beer Garden [1203 Town Center Drive #116]
While just off Main Street, DAS Beer Garden is well-worth the turn. Capitalizing on the rise of craft breweries in the Sunshine State, this gastropub offers a hard-to-beat selection of more than 70 craft beers on tap and 60 different bottles. It’s the perfect place to catch a game, too, and is also family friendly, so feel free to bring the kids. Plus, they have an impressive menu with plenty of German and American fare alike.
ILEENgirl Boutique [1200 Town Center Drive #111]
Founded by Seoul designer Ashley Lee, the chic ILEENgirl Boutique isn’t just a place to buy off the shelf, but to receive fashion consulting tailored to your style. The store’s wares are perfect parts sophisticated, functional, and elegantly designed, and are worn around the globe, thanks to the company’s footholds in South Korea and China. Be sure to check the jewelry and accessory section, too.
