Whether it’s “5 o’clock somewhere” or right where you are, we’ve rounded up the best bars for a spectacular toast, no matter the time of day.
No vacation is complete without a toast – to your health, to an amazing vacation, to spending time with those you care about most. And there’s no time like summer to enjoy a cocktail in great company. Which is why we are excited to have rolled out our #Its5pmAtOpal contest, now through September 1, 2016. Your toast might just win you a three-day stay on us. To get you started and thinking (dreaming?) about where you might want to raise your glass, here are a few of our favorite spots in Opal destinations.
Downeast Windjammer Cruise [Bar Harbor, ME]
“It’s 5 o’clock somewhere” certainly doesn’t have to be limited to terra firma. Our recommendation in Bar Harbor: on a sunset sail on the schooners Margaret Todd or Bailey Louise Todd on Frenchman Bay. Bring your own bottle of wine and a couple of glasses so you can drink to an incomparable sunset before heading back into town.
West Street Hotel | Harborside Hotel, Spa & Marina
By the Samoset Resort’s “Zero Entry” Outdoor Pool [Rockport, ME]
This 200,000-gallon pool set on a hill that overlooks the mile-long Rockland Breakwater and lighthouse may be the place you spend most of your summer escape to Maine, but it’s also a spectacular place to raise a salute. The poolside bar crafts cocktails with fresh ingredients from the resort’s herb garden and kitchen.
The Wine Cellar at Lake Placid Lodge [Lake Placid, NY]
For a once-in-a-lifetime kind of toast, the Wine Cellar at Lake Placid Lodge is the place to go. This private dining room boasts vaulted brick ceilings, vine-covered walls, and rare vintages carefully selected by the lodge’s master sommeliers that gleam like jewels from within their lit alcoves.
Splash Pool Bar at The Sagamore Resort [Lake George, NY]
Submerge yourself to the water line and The Sagamore’s outdoor pool seemingly blurs right into the waters of Lake George. This is pool life at its best, with its 10,000 square feet of terraced pool deck surrounded by the peaks of the Adirondacks and the lake at your feet. Our recommendation from the bar: an “Indian Summer” – Hendrick’s gin, St. Germain elderflower liqueur, a splash of fresh squeezed Persian lime, cranberry juice, muddled grapefruit, and sparkling soda.
Guanabanas [Jupiter, FL]
This 100 percent open-air restaurant is a Florida institution, with its woven tiki huts and banyan trees that tower overhead. Head down for happy hour, relax in the laid-back island atmosphere, and toast with their signature “Mango Beach Break.”
BRGR Bar [Treasure Island, FL]
With house-made syrups, fresh pressed juices, and garden herbs, the mixologists at BRGR Bar, Treasure Island Beach Resort’s foodie hot spot craft both modern and classic cocktails. Enjoy the bright modern space with a “Smoke and Sand” in hand – a blend of Mezcal, fresh orange juice, Filthy Cherry Syrup, and an orange twist.
