From Leashes to Luxury

Sandcastle’s Four-Legged Former Owner

Sandcastle Resort has had a colorful history on the island, perhaps most famously between the years of 2007 to 2011, when it was owned not by a person, but by a dog – a feisty little Maltese named Trouble. Trouble inherited the hotel (along with a hefty trust) from her owner, real estate mogul Leona Helmsley after her death, making her the richest dog in the world. It was certainly an unforgettable chapter to Sandcastle’s storied history…and we’re excited to say, there’s more in store.
