Resort Enhancement Project

It takes a little work to stay this beautiful! Our restaurant is currently undergoing an exciting transformation that will unveil an upgraded experience, expanded pool area, and exciting new restaurant concept – all of which are slated to be complete by early 2025.

Below outlines our most frequently asked questions from guests who want to understand how these exciting projects will impact their stay. You can check back to this page which we will keep updated with new information as our resort enhancement project progresses.


Construction noise is possible from 8am – 6pm on our pool deck, fitness center, gift shop, main building.

Construction noise can be expected from 8am – 6pm. Food and beverage service from a limited menu will be available from 11am – dusk.

Temporary Pool Hours:
Now through approximately October 15, the pool hours of operation will be from 9am – 10pm.

No. Both venues are currently closed.

With Bistro 245 closed, guests looking to eat on site may visit a temporary tented restaurant with air conditioning located adjacent to the marina that will be open daily. A complimentary continental breakfast will be offered from 7am – 11am, and an all-day menu will be served from 11am – dusk.

Opal Key will provide room service for lunch and dinner, available from 11am – dusk. The menu offered will be the same as that served in our pop-up tent. Guests can place an order by dialing “0” on their in-room phone or by calling 305.294.4000.

Because the waterside walkway and our sunset pier will be closed due to construction, all guests are encouraged to enjoy the sunset celebration in Mallory Square.

Guests staying in the main building rooms can expect to hear construction noise from 8am – 6pm.

Temporary access to the resort’s Sunset Pier will be opened for the boat races, from November 6 – 10. The northern end of the Sunset Pier (the end closest to Mallory Square), will have a temporary event tent set up where we’ll be serving food and beverage during racing hours.

If you would prefer to wait to visit us until our revitalization is complete, we would be happy to re-book your reservation at one of our three nearby sister Opal resorts:

  • Sunset Key Cottages is a luxe private island retreat located 500 yards off the water from Opal Key and offers 40 standalone cottages
  • For a slightly more casual option, The Capitana, located outside of the hustle and bustle of Old Town, offers pristine accommodations, an expansive pool deck where guests love to linger, and a unique beach area perched over the bay
  • The Laureate, also located outside of the hustle and bustle of Old Town, offers spacious all-suite accommodations perfect for larger families or longer lengths of stays
