January’s annual Glacier Ice Bars – presented at The Sagamore Resort and Samoset Resort – are quintessential wintertime traditions that date back more than a decade. But simply a swan sculpture these are not. A frosty 50,000 pounds of ice are sculpted into bars, barstools, chairs, tables, even glassware. And we can promise that 2025’s sleek spectacle will be one you won’t want to miss, so start planning your visit to one of these icy extravaganzas held on Lake George, New York and in Rockport, Maine.

The Sagamore Resort’s Glacier Ice Bar

Set on Shelving Rock Terrace, the icy display overlooks Lake George and the 1883 historic resort’s sprawling grounds. In addition to ice luges anchoring each end of the glacier ice bar, our signature polar bears ice sculptures perfect for photo opps, and lounge-like seating draped in faux fur blankets, there’s also a series of heated private igloos and a chili chowder lounge for warming up in between time spent at the bar. The handcrafted cocktails run the range from warm, boozy coffee beverages to festive cranberry, vodka, and champagne creations.

*Overnight hotel guests enjoy automatic entry to the ice bar. Open 4–10 p.m. on Fridays and 1–10 p.m. on Saturdays.

Samoset Resort’s Glacier Ice Bar

Samoset Resort’s ice bar scene is set seaside, overlooking Penobscot Bay and the property’s 230 acres. In addition to our signature polar bears ice sculptures and lounge-like seating draped in faux fur blankets, expect a creative menu of both hot and cold hand-crafted cocktails, beer, and even mocktails. And, of course, there’s the iconic ice luges, funneling elaborately-crafted shots into special glassware. Warm up with light bites – like chili and New England clam chowder – or gather around one of the fire pits to toast marshmallows.
