Prescott Park

Just steps from the heart of Portsmouth, Prescott Park is the perfect summer retreat for enjoying outdoor performances in a beautiful garden setting. Known for its vibrant Arts Festival, this park hosts a range of events, from live theater and musical performances to family-friendly movie nights. Isles of Shoals

Embark on a journey with Portsmouth Harbor Cruises to the Isles of Shoals, a cluster of nine storied islands situated six miles off the New Hampshire coast. This narrated cruise offers guests a chance to explore the rich history of the islands, which have served as fishing settlements, pirate hideouts, and summer retreats for artists and intellectuals. Wentworth by the Sea Country Club’s 18-hole championship golf course is open to guests of the hotel. The more than century-old club has been painstakingly preserved, and the Scottish-style links offer breathtaking ocean views. The course combines scenic views of the coastline with a challenging layout, featuring meticulously maintained fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and rolling greens.

Avid sailors can arrive at the resort via boat to Safe Harbor, the private marina operated steps from our resort. With 170 slips accommodating vessels up to 200 feet, the marina is equipped with first-class amenities, including full-service docking, fueling stations, and concierge services. Leisure charters and fly-fishing excursions are also available to book through the marina.

Nature trails abound in the region surrounding Portsmouth. Odiorne Point State Park is a favorite for its scenic trails weaving through forests, salt marshes, and rocky shorelines. Along the way, you’ll find remnants of old military bunkers and breathtaking views of the Atlantic. Fort Foster is another one suitable for all levels of hikers, with easy, family-friendly trails and access to picnic areas, historic fortifications, and sandy beaches.

If the weather’s not cooperating while you’re perusing downtown Portsmouth, warm up and create your own custom candle at Sea Love, a charming candle-making bar with over 100 scents to select from. The experience takes about 30 to 45 minutes, and while your candle cools (approximately 2 to 2.5 hours), you can explore the boutique’s seacoast-inspired home and personal care products, or grab a bite to eat downtown. Want cocktails with your candle-making? Sea Love is a BYOB establishment, so feel free to bring your favorite beverage to enjoy during the session.
