Facilitated by Portsmouth Team Building, a company specializing in creating team-building activities that can be brought to various Seacoast destinations, the Random Acts of Kindness Challenge is a great way to build connections between colleagues while spreading goodwill throughout the local community. How it works: Groups are divided into teams and each given 25 random acts of kindness – like writing “get well” cards for local hospitalized children – then sent on their way to complete as many as they can (materials and items are provided). The team that completes the most in the allotted time wins.

Another creative Portsmouth Team Building challenge, the Stuff Animal Charity Event tasks teams with assembling stuffed animals to later donate to a local charity. The unique twist lies in the fact that teams must first navigate through a series of mental, physical, and visual puzzles and riddles in order to receive the parts to build the stuffed animal. Collaboration is essential, underscoring the value of effective communication and teamwork.

An active way for smaller groups to get to know their teammates while also allowing for a little adventure? Kayaking through the tidal waterways of Portsmouth and Newcastle. Sagamore Creek, in particular, is a beautiful tidal creek – rife with little islands to explore and an array of wildlife – that spills into the back channel of Newcastle Island. Rentals and guided group tours are provided by Seven Rivers Paddling, just around the corner from Wentworth by the Sea.

If you’re a fan of the hit TV show “The Amazing Race,” then you’ll love participating in an Amazing Race-inspired competitive adventure. In this scavenger-hunt-style activity, teams compete in timed challenges and problem-solving tasks designed to encourage teamwork and communication. The first team to complete their tasks and return to the finish line will be crowned the winner. But it’s not over: Teams also get to showcase their creativity by designing a team cheer and handshake, which are later performed for the entire group during the awards ceremony.

Explore it during a guided nature walk where a knowledgeable guide will point out the local ecosystems and its inhabitants. Play a part in protecting the bee population – and the vital pollination service they provide to millions of acres of crops in the US – by lending your team’s hands in the construction of beehives for a local bee farmer. This guided endeavor not only teaches groups a few construction tips but also brings them into the fascinating world of bees…In fact, did you that 99% of bees are female? Or that one pound of honey is made from two million flower visits? You will after this buzzworthy group activity.

Halotherapy – the process of breathing in a dry salt aerosol within a closed-off room – touts a range of benefits, primarily the cleaning out of your respiratory system and opening of your airways. Groups can try out this trending therapy – currently on the rise across spas and wellness spaces – at the Opal Spa at Wentworth by the Sea in the on-site Salt & Sound Lounge. All you have to do is sit back in a heated lounger in the meditative space – lined with walls of beautifully illuminated, hand-carved pink Himalayan salt blocks – and breathe. Don’t be surprised if you slip into slumber.

During a lunch break, corporate groups can build a little zen into their day of meetings with a Corporate Meditation and Mindfulness program. Designed to improve the health and wellness of employees, the session includes a step-by-step guide on how to meditate, followed by a short, guided meditation by a mindfulness meditation teacher. The result is an increase in energy, positivity, productivity, awareness, and creativity among employees.
